These tea temples house lovely little pearls of hand-rolled green tea tips which have been delicately infused with pure jasmine flowers. The leaves are just allowed to rest amongst the flowers to pick up their floral scent - jasmine tea doesn't get any purer than this. Once you cover with water,, the leaves will unfurl from the hand-rolled pearl to reveal a whole leaf and a bud - surprisingly hypnotic viewing we think! These particular pearls are often called "dragon phoenix pearls" – that’s because the tea bushes on the hillside  look like a dragon coming out of the water. Although I've seen these bushes climbing the hillside I've yet to see a dragon getting out of a bath, so I can't vouch for the accuracy of this claim, unfortunately!

Louise the tea taster says

how does it taste?

Very delicate green tea with a light, floral, refreshing, natural jasmine taste.

good if you're feeling

in need of relaxation and detox. Like all teas, this is bursting with antioxidants - the good guys that help keep us young and healthy

How we like it

Au naturel - glass teapot, jasmine pearls, add water and relax.

Just cover one tea temple with boiling water and infuse for 3 minutes. Remove temple and top-up glass with iced water.

Brew Time

  • One tea temple per person, infused with water at 80 degrees C. (If you don't have a fancy kettle or thermometer to hand, grabbing the kettle just before it boils will do the job!) .
  • Loose tea - 4 to 6 pearls per person. Infuse for 3+ minutes.

Whole leaves take longer to brew, but the little wait is definitely worth it

“I had high hopes for this one. And many of my friends love it.
The smell is really good, but it tastes kinda bitter and to me it feels like drinking perfume.”

One of the best teas in the world

* * * * * by Ross Parker • 29th May 2014

“I have been drinking good tea for three or four years now, and have tended to gravitate towards black teas as I like their depth of flavour. However this Jasmine tea, and the Mao Feng green have made me reconsider. Of the two, the Jasmine is the winner. It is utterly sublime and it's a close call between this and another company's Bohea Lapsang for my favour tea of the 200+ I have tasted.”

“Another fine tea from the TEAPIGS people!
An excellent Jasmine tea with loads of depth and the perfect level of Jasmine, if you combine with a little sugar you’ll find the complexity of the tea increased. 1 Tea temple goes a long way. I use a 500ml mug for my Jasmine Tea and get two mugs per Tea temple (1 Litre!) The first mug complex, mild, sweet and aromatic, the second I allow to infuse until the tea is cool enough to drink, has a much more subtle relaxed flavour yet still very enjoyable.
Nice one Tea Pigs!”

“Love this tea so much! Jasmine has always been my fave, but the price elsewhere has always meant it has been a treat. Buying it through Teapigs is great because I save money and the taste is still fantastic. Really high quality tea, lovely fragrange and taste. Love it!”

“I usually hate green tea but after getting this as a gift I thought i would give it a try. It is absolutely delicious! Its light, not bitter and has a lovely light taste of jasmine! I would recommend it highly!”

Another tea that has ruined any brands chance!

“I'm not a massive fan of Jasmine Tea - until I tried TeaPigs Jasmine Tea - now I know I cannot buy any other brand of jasmine tea and enjoy it; they're all so bitter tasting now!

My only gripe - when can we have a 50 box please??”

Best tea ever

“Being new to drinking tea, I have tried many brands.
Now that I tried the jasmine pearls by Teapigs I can't possibly go back to the others. This is simply the best tea ever! and it's so detoxing. Heavily recommended!”

“I regularly drink jasmine tea from various producers so thought I would give this a try based on the reviews. Try as I might I cannot get any hint of jasmine out of the tea. Perhaps it was just a bad batch, but I am used to getting at least 3-4 very fragrant cups from my jasmine teas, but sadly not this one.”

I thought I had been drinking Jasmine tea... clearly not... till now that is!

“I have always loved Jasmine tea, this however is what Jasmine tea is all about.

I put the pearls straight into my mug, and yes it does look like seaweed at the bottom but I find the flavour just gets better and better, it doesn't go all nasty and bitter like others I have tried.

Peoples you need to try this!!”

Fragrant and Soft

“This was my first experience with Teapigs (thanks to Moksha in Brighton and a lovely Japanese student of mine). I had generally been a coffee drinker but did Jasmine at home in the mornings. This Jasmine just blew what I had been drinking out the water. This is as beautiful as the sort of stuff you can usually only get in Thai restaurants and even then, only loose. This is a fragrant, soft tea, excellent for a nice read on a Saturday afternoon.”

“Im trying to wean myself off of diet coke and onto something better for me; so I ordered a mix 'n' match box full of tea pig goodies.

Im pretty sure this Jasmine tea is my favourite out of the bunch so far - I think another order is due just to make sure ; )”

“Having given up coffee I took to mainstream green tea. That's until I tried these litlle fellas. This tea puts any other variety I've ever tried to shame. Great job Tea Pigs Team - I can't recommend your products enough!”

“Loved this tea since I first tasted it in a cafe a year ago so I was delighted to find it on sale in the Storehouse near Inverness.
Now enjoy watching the leaves unfurl and indulging in luxury tea at home. It's delicate taste has never failed to please!”

“A gorgeous tea, in more ways than one! It's so sweet and lovely, and nice to watch the pearls unravel. I keep the bag in my cup and keep topping up. For some reason it tastes amazing with chocolate mints...?! but it's also great on its own! My second favourite of your teas (favourite is chai !)”

You'll never go back!

“I have been drinking this tea for a while now and went to a cafe recently where I had normal powdered green tea. It tasted vile and I couldn't finish it as I am now so used to this lovely tea! Thank you teapigs for converting me :)”

Instant Zen

“I first tasted Jasmine tea at my local Chinese reastuarant and loved it. However, this is the best I've tasted, and the pearls look beautiful too. Clean, fresh, uplifting. Sit back, put on some Sigur Ros, light some incense, sup away, and hey presto! ..instant Zen”

Incredible tea!

“This tea is absolutly like magic. I havnt tried any of the traditional tea`s from china but i dont know how big tea brands like tetly or yorkshire tea end up selling such bland tea and making millions when this tea is on the market!”

Best Jasmine tea, ever!

* * * * * by • 1st June 2011

“I grew up in Luxembourg and often ate at Chinese restaurants, where it was customary amongst our circle of friends to have a pot of jasmine tea with our meal.

Not since those days (over 20 years ago) have I tasted such delicious jasmine tea!! Every cup I drink takes me straight back to my teens and all those happy memories. And of course it's incredibly refreshing and thirst-quenching. The mild yet intense aroma permeates through the room every time I brew a cup and it makes me feel happy. Thank you Teapigs!!”

Delicate and Lovely!

* * * * * by • 19th March 2011

“Like the reviewer below me, I've tried many different brands and versions of Jasmin Tea, and never been satisfied. My stepmother is Chinese, and after having tried some 'proper' Jasmin tea (would have cost nearly £200 in the UK!) she'd brought with her from China, I fell in love with this tea.

Teapigs have created a lovely blend with their version of this popular tea, and I thoroughly applaud them. I will be buying a big joblot once I finish my teapiglets version - and I wont even have to spend a fortune!

Many thanks Teapig :)”

“A lovely balance of green and jasmine, a great mid-day tea to perk you up. The tea temples work really well too, tho they are fit to burst once the peals have opened!

Especially nice as the supermarket jasmine I've just bought is awful, and this was just the right thing to make up for it.”

Blooming great tea!

* * * * * by • 18th January 2011

“I have tried other jasmine teas in the past and have always been dissappointed. My biggest complaint being that the ratio of jasmine flower to actual tea leaves was too low. The tea would smell a little different, but essentially just tasted like green tea.

Tea Pigs have got the balance right. The tea not only smells fragrant and exotic, but has a wonderfully mellow, slightly perfumed taste, with none of the bitterness of other brands.

It's very special and well worth the price.”

The best Jasmine Tea I've EVER had

* * * * * by • 10th December 2010

“I buy a lot of chinese loose leaf teas, including jasmine, and nothing compares to this one! How do you do it? Even when I leave the teabag in it doesn't get bitter, it's fragrant and I was shocked to find that it was my favourite from my bumper order - I thought I'd cracked Jasmine tea, but teapigs blew it out of the water.”

Jasmine pearls

“I wasn't too sure about these tea bags when I ordered - however I was not disappointed
when the hot was water is added to the tea bag - the pearls unfurl and the steam off the brew has a lovely aroma of Jasmine. I have used this tea to help me reduce my intake of coffee. Highly recommended.”

sweet like perfume

* * * * - by • 11th September 2010

“I hope this isn't strange but I liked the smell of this tea more than the flavour. It was a lovely cup of green tea which I couldn't fault at all but it was the smell as I held this to my lips which I really loved, this should be made into a candle.”

Posh tea!

“During a recent visit to the UK for the first time I found Tea Pigs brand inside a large department store in London. I purchased some Jasmin Pearls and brought them back to Milan where I live and found myself religiously drinking it every night until sadly, it was finished. This is the best Jasmin tea I've ever had, and I'm not even fond of Green Tea in general, but drink it for the nutritional value. Can't wait to place my online order and try some others flavors. Your tea is the best!”

Yummy once every now and then...

“We had various teapigs teas when staying at a wonderful hotel in North Yorkshire, and the jasmine teapearls were my favorite, they were kind enough to give me a packet when we left, so now I can order them from you, just perfect.”

Very aromatic

* * * * * by • 6th April 2009

“I feel like a spoilt queen drinking this tea.

It should be drunk, if possible, in one of those big ancient square royal baths you see in films like The Mummy Returns. filled with goats milk and topped with various flower petals, with white Persian kittens playing all around the marble floors. And a maid bringing you a four-tired pink cake like in Marie Antoinette.

But it's also very good if you run yourself a mortal's bath with a bit of bubbles and relax.

Or at least that's how I drink it.

Lovely stuff.”

“I'm not really a big fan of the flavour of green tea, but I feel that I have to give it a chance, because of all the handy health benefits. This tea has won me over! It has a very nice, sort of 'flowery' taste to it, and this sweetens the green tea flavour for me, so I get all the health benefits, and it tastes nice! What more could you ask for?”
