The penultimate event on the 2012 real tea tour was the Strumer of Love set in the picturesque surroundings of the Blackdown Hills.

The Strummer of Love festival was created to celebrate the man and the legacy of Joe Strummer and to commemorate the anniversary of what would have been his 70th Birthday.

Frank Turner kicked off the event off with a fantastic performance on the Clash City Rockers stage, the crowd were well versed to “I Still Believe“. The legendary Seasick Steve headlined in the evening and kept the crowd amused with stories from his well-lived life.

Both the Thursday afternoon and Friday was cursed with rain which instantly has us in festival mode (perfect for a cup of tea) Fortunately the rest of the weekend was laced with sunshine and gave us the opportunity to explore the site and sample some delicious Sparkling Elderflower from the Festival Elderflower Company.

Some of our favourite bands (and their loosly linked tea equivalents!) over the weekend were:

  • Slow Club (punchy, fresh and perfectly cool - just like this)
  • King Charles (great dogs drink great tea)
  • Roots Manuva (South London star meets South African favourite)
  • Dog is Dead (oh no!)
  • Beans on Toast (perfect with a cup of this)
  • KT Tunstall (perfect to compliment her rich and velvety tones)
  • DJs Amp and Deck - (as good as this much loved combination)

To quote Joe Strummer – “Without people you’re nothing”. The attendees, stewards, security and of course artists made this a unique festival and such an enjoyable weekend.

We met some great people throughout the weekend both attendees and artists, thanks to all that purchased a brew.

Up next on the teapigs real tea tour is the Party in the Park at Oake Manor Golf Course.
