Most chamomile teas are made by crushing the flowers - not a nice thing to do. The best chamomile tea comes from brewing the whole flowers - which is exactly what we do. Well known benefits of chamomile include sleep-promoting properties, relaxing muscles and soothing anxiety.

Louise the tea taster says

how does it taste?

A beautiful yellow cup which gives way to a sweet, surprisingly juicy flavour of chamomile. Naturally caffeine free.

good if you're feeling

Unable to switch off. One cup of this will calm any incessant mind-whirring, especially if you put your feet up whilst someone else makes it for you.

How we like it

Drink pure or sweeten with a little honey.

Just cover one tea temple with boiling water and infuse for 3 minutes. Remove temple and top-up glass with iced water. Sweeten with honey.

Brew Time

  • tea temple - 1 per person. Infuse in boiling water. Brew for 3+ minutes.
  • loose tea - 2 rounded teaspoonful per person. Brew for 3+ minutes.

Whole leaves take longer to brew, but the little wait is definitely worth it.

“I'm no camomile novice but never tried one like this! I drink it 2 aid relaxation and sleep! This it did without doubt!! I bought th loose leaf n loved seein th pretty flowers swirlin! Th taste is most definately stronger than any regular camomile available(n trust me av tried th lot!!) not my absolute favourite teapigs creation taste-wize, but still better than any other camomile brand! Gud stuff!!”

“I've tried various chamomile teas in the past, and I've never been impressed by it - they were either bitter and nasty, or didn't really taste of much. Then I bought some from here, believing the hype that it should taste better, and it did! I actually enjoy a mahoosive mug of chamomile tea before bed whenever I feel I need a helping hand to wind down, thank you! :D”

“Having tried many Chamomile teas over the last few years I recently purchased Tea Pigs for the first time! (Love the name, can’t stop saying it TEAPIGS!!) The Tea is that good I felt compelled to write a review.
WOW! What an incredible bouquet, the flavour is fresh, yet sweet and warming; there is also a wonderful subtle honey flavour to these Chamomile flowers. I will never go back to the ground varieties again. I’m on my second order already.
Well done Tea Pigs, top quality product at a price I’m prepared to pay.”

“Actual flowers in the bags give this the best chamomile tea ever”

Beautifully calming

* * * * * by Fiona • 19th July 2019

“I bought Teapigs specifically as I could buy loose tea of a lot of different flavours. The camomile tea is just simply beautiful. It has such a strong yellow colour compared to other camomile teas that I’ve had in bags. The flavour is delicate and just perfect. I can see and taste the quality.
I bought Teapigs to cut down on my waste (I know the temples are compostable too). I’m a customer for life now. I will try the berry fruit flavour based on this experience as I often find these don’t have much flavour, but I doubt this will be the case with Teapigs.”

“I've always been a lover of chamomile tea since my dad introduced it to me when i was ill, but this one just took the biscuit! twinings was always my favourite, but teapigs will officially be filling my hot drinks cupboard from now on ... and the beauty of the tea bag makes the experience even better!”

My Evening Staple

* * * * * by Gillian Lindsay • 12th June 2014

“I MUST have this tea before going to bed each evening. I leave it brewing for 7 minutes with a teaspoon on top of it, to stop it floating up to the top. I cannot believe the deep sleeps I am having since starting drinking chamomile. The taste is lovely, just dont put too much water in your cup/mug - should be about a cup size portion. I never liked chamomile until I tried Teapigs! It definitely helps relax you before going to bed.”

Best Chamomile I've tried.

“I suffer with anxiety and so chamomile is a bit of a lifesaver for me sometimes, it's my happy place! Teapigs chamomile is 100% the best I've tried, it's not the cheapest on the market but it's definitely the best value.”

“Pure Chamomile absolutely brilliant its not too sweet not too flowery, claming yet doesnt make (me) you sleepy. it also brings back fond memories of meeting someone i love in a coffee shop after work since ot tastes exactly like that coffee shops tea. i highly recommend!”

So relaxing........

So much better than 'normal' teabgs

* * * * * by • 4th April 2010

“If your experience of Camomile tea is the 'normal' teabags you buy in the supermarket then don't let that put you off. This is soooo much better! The whole flowers mean you get a really non-bitter, smooth cup of tea that has so much subtle flavour. Nothing like what you're used to. Best without anything added. Oh and boy will you sleep after!”

Chamomile Perfection

“I had despaired of finding good chamomile tea in the UK until I tried teapigs. I had resorted to bringing supplied back from France until I discovered this lovely tea. It is perfect. Not a trace of dustiness - lovely juicy flowery tea.
Thank you again Tea Pigs”

* * * * * by Harriet Frost • 1st September 2014

“This chamomile tea tastes miles better than any of the chamomile tea from supermarkets. It has a completely different flavour and it is so calming and good for clearing your head! Would definitely recommend this tea, I always have it straight before bed and it sends me off to sleep in an instant. Thanks teapigs!”

calmly does it

* * * * * by • 8th April 2010

“This tea is wonderful! I am not usually a huge tea fan - although tea pigs has about converted me to their brand - but one cup of this actually transports you to a place of clam and tranquility... Just waiting for it to brew actually makes you feel virtuous alone. Recommended naturally before bed, but also during moments of madness in the home to restore your little devils to the angels they once were... in your eyes at least!”

* * * * * by Fluffy • 22nd October 2014

“I've always struggled with Chamomile tea. It's either too bitter or gritty to drink straight and I always find I'm forcing myself to finish a cup... And then I tried Teapigs.

It's beautiful and such a clear flavour; no dust or grit or grime - just a soft, fragrant flavour. I love having this as I'm in bed and getting ready to drift off. It's a nice calming end to my day and I'm never going to buy another brand again.”

What got me hooked to teapigs

* * * * * by Tuan • 4th October 2018

“Saw this on offer in a shop and thought yeah I'll try it. Ment to help with sleep etc.. and I've just started working night shifts.
Very nice subtle flavour doesn't taste watery at all as I was afraid of that.
Really does help me relax and unwind.”

Unlike any other camomile tea

* * * * * by • 20th March 2007

“I've never liked camomile tea before as other brands I've tried have always tasted not much better than plain water, or have smelt good but disappointed taste-wise. This, though, is lovely, with a proper flavour and I can't imagine anyone disliking it. It also looks really pretty, with the little flowers!”

So soothing...

* * * * * by • 14th May 2010

“This tea is just ridiculously relaxing - and has such a beautiful scent and taste. There's something very therapeutic about making a cup of Teapigs Camomile Flowers tea before bed and watching an episode of your favourite TV series with your jammies on.
Definitely a good one for those who get the fear on a Sunday - if you get it, you'll know what I'm talking about. An absolute treat.”

* * * * * by Darren Holloway • 13th May 2012

“I wasn't a fan of Chamomile tea until I tried this in my swanky hotel room in London the night before an important exam. The taste has always put me off but this was like no other Chamomile brew I'd tasted before, a totally different experience. Fresh and instantly becalming. Oh, and yes, I passed the exam with a top-end credit. Nice one flowers.”

the best

* * * * * by Joe Russell • 5th July 2015

“By far the best chamomile tea I've tasted. Compared to many other brands, it actually has a distinct chamomile flavor instead of a generic bland 'herbal' quality. Intensely floral and fresh tasting with a natural sweetness that lingers for a long time. Bought the big looseleaf bag. Great to mix with fresh mint, peppermint, spearmint etc., esp. around bedtime :)”

* * * * * by • 14th August 2008

“Simply divine! The most delicious chamomile tea I've ever tasted. No bitterness and no pungent odour. Like drinking a golden cup of sweet smelling sunshine.

No competition

* * * * * by • 17th December 2010

“I've just made up a camomile brew with a competitor's product, just to make sure that I'm not paying the extra here for nothing. No! After trying the Teapigs' stuff I now can't face the rest of theirs, and it's having to go in the bin.”

* * * * * by Louise Hall • 18th April 2013

“I've never seen the appeal of chamomile tea - until now. This tastes light, sweet and almost slightly chocolatey. Delicious!”

* * * * * by C • 26th November 2015

“I should begin this review by saying I really don't get along with tea usually. Sorry everyone, it just tastes like dirty leaves in water which I guess if you remove the "dirty" is kind of an accurate description. That was until now. I have tried camomile tea before from several brands and it almost made me gag. Teapigs camomile however is very smooth, floral and light, almost fresh. I agree with the other reviewer - this has a distinct taste and doesn't have that generic herbal tea-y taste. I have to say I'm very impressed and pleasantly surprised, it takes some doing for me to appreciate a tea. Well done teapigs!”

The BEST!!!

* * * * * by Lorraine Noray • 20th January 2019

“Bought my first box from supermarket. Loved them so much had to buy the bigger box. The whole flowers definitely give the tea a superior taste even compared to other popular brands. Drink a cup or two every day - depending on what sort of day I have had - and without fail soothes and relaxes me. Bought Jasmine, silver tips white tea and some other varieties when they have been on offer from supermarket. Will be buying larger boxes of my favourite. Tea Pigs are my personal stash and NOT for sharing!!! 😉”

Pakcing of loose

“The tea is wonderful, just i was surprised when I opened the parcel. I love the design of the tiny steel box of all loose products. I actually bought a lot of those for my friends in my country. Hopefully you can send me the steel boxes for loose. It's so cute. Thanks.”

A Luverly Cuppa!

* * * * * by • 23rd August 2009

“I have to say I did ponder on whether or not go for the Chamomile when placing my order as I have always found that most of the Chamomile tea`s (including some of the more expensive brands) have always had a bitter after taste and not been very refreshing. Well, That was until now! I have since become a convert! Teapigs Chamomile has to be the best I have ever had the fortune to let pass my lips!!
It is not only soothing and slightly fruity but is also smooth with no bitter after taste at all! I highly recommended this tea for Chamomile & non Chamomile fans a like, I`m telling you it is so very different from all the rest out there.
The added bonus is also that all the little flowers are cutely compacted into the bag rather than being crushed, so what you end up with is a very pleasant cup of yellow sunshine -
something most of us could do with in rainy Britain!”

“I now looking forward to bedtime, as I've got into the good habit of brewing a cup of Chamomile Flowers to help me relax and unwind. The whole flowers really give the tea a rich, soothing taste - what a difference compared with other brands which contain ground flowers.

I've just place an order online for several teas, after becoming frustrated at not being able to find local stockists. I can tell I'll be a new addict to Teapigs!”

Delicious and BEAUTIFUL!

* * * * * by • 1st June 2011

“I've already mentioned my foreign background in another review on well as having grown up in Luxembourg, I'm Italian and German, and my Italian roots are a big influence on my culinary tastes.

Chamomile Tea is given to infants and children all over Italy as a bedtime drink, so the smell and taste of this particular tea reminds me of childhood relaxation. It also reminds me of the many summers when my mother and I would pick chamomile flowers, boil them up and then pour the cooled chamomile infusion onto our hair after washing, before drying it out in the early evening sunshine to help bring out the natural blondness in our hair.

Having an infusion made straight from the flowers rather than a tea infused with the flavour & scent of chamomiles is amazing. It tastes, looks & smells fantastic!

Well done & thank you, Teapigs!!”

The greatest tea?

* * * * * by ionamacd • 16th January 2014

“I have never really enjoyed herbal tea bags; I find the flavours are usually tart and overwhelming. I much prefer your 'usual' type of tea in a bag.

Until now.

Of an evening, I find myself putting the kettle on and reaching for one of these tea temples, instead of grinding coffee or brewing a standard cup of tea.

Simply delicious. I even drink instead of malt whisky from time to time. That is how ridiculously good it really is.”

Desperately searching the internet for helpful ideas to calm down I saw chamomile tea was supposed to calm people down. Ready to try anything, but not believing a tea would really make that much difference, I bought a box of Teapigs tea. This is now my drug of choice! Warning: You won't be able to enjoy chamomile tea from another brand

* * * * * by Christina • 11th March 2017

“Simply the best, truest chamomile tea. The only other time I have had chamomile tea like this was when I used to live in Greece and a friend of my mom's used to give us tea that she had picked herself from around her village in a mountainous area in Lesbos.
I have had loose leaf before but they tend to be from Egypt and invariably leave a bitternes in the end. I'm not sure if it's to do with the warm climate or the processing in Egypt.
Some years ago Teapigs would say the chamomile was form somewhere in the Balkans, and I thought that was the reason it was better. I have just ordered a new batch and hope it is still the same, but I noticed it no longer says where it's from.”

Once you try this, you'll never go back !

* * * * * by Rita Greenwood • 12th June 2019

“Herbal teas, for me in the past, have only been consumed as I wanted to try and imbibe something nutritional/holistic from them, but I always thought the flavour was very weak at best.
I tried the whole chamomile flowers earlier this year and then found Tea Pigs, where the price was very good value for money. The flowers are second to none, I will never go back to flavourless dust in bags! Strong on aroma, I thought it was almost honey-like and good flavour - a firm favourite and I will be back again very soon.”

Mellow Yellow

* * * * - by • 12th May 2011

“Has a mellow and subtler flavour than the average bag of chamomile, it's very pleasant and easy to drink. It lacks that horrible tangy bitterness that you normally get with ordinary chamomile also. I suffer from severe insomnia due to a medical condition that I have and although I can't say that the chamomile always helps me to sleep, it definitely always does relax and soothe me. & On a more superficial note....the little yellow chamomile flowers look lovely when they're infusing in the cup!”

* * * * - by • 9th June 2011

“I have tried chamomile tea in the past as it is meant to help you get to sleep but it's always tasted bitter and unpleasant. I've been able to just about put up with the taste by adding honey.

Then I got a teapig sample of chamomile with my last order. I'm a convert!!! This is truly delicious. Not bitter, dry, dusty or unpleasant at all. It really does taste sweet and juicy and I'm about to order a box. And that's before I know if it will help me get to sleep or not.

I'll move my score up if it helps me sleep as well...”

Weak tea

* * - - - by Christine Caridi-Jones • 6th January 2019

“Honestly it is pretty weak. The tea bag floats on top of the cup so you must keep poking it down. I don't know if that's why it is flavorless and week but it is. It seems hard to find a decent cup of Chamomile tea!”

I know, I'm a heathen :(

* * - - - by • 23rd May 2011

“I know it seems a terrible thing to dislike Camomile, but I didn't enjoy it at all, it has a funny after taste I'm not keen on at all. I tried it pure, then with a spoon of sugar which helped a little, and then a touch of milk (I know, milk with herbal! Sacrilege!) and this helped even more, but then it just felt like having a normal cup of tea but with a funny taste to it :(

I'll stick to Morning Glory!”
