what's special about this tea?

We like to think of it as a sort of superhero amongst teas, as it's a super-concentrated green tea powder that's packed with antioxidants and nutrients. teapigs matcha comes from the renowned Nishio region in Japan, where the tea leaves are grown under cover to produce lots of amino acids and chlorophyll (the bright green good stuff). The leaves are then dried and very slowly ground by granite to a very fine powder, which is then packed and sealed immediately, so as to lock all the nutrients in. It's been a ceremonial beverage drunk by Buddhist monks and royalty for over 900 years. But you needn't feel foolish about the fact you've never heard of it before as, until now, virtually all matcha has been consumed within Japan.

Expensive and not premium quality.

For £40 a tin you would expect a premium Matcha. But it's not. It's colour it's not vibrant green and it clumps which indicates low/normal quality matcha. Taste wise isn't bad but I've only tried it with milk so can't comment on bitterness etc. It's really overpriced though.

Lovely! I first tried them at work & since bought them for myself! I need to purchase the whisk as they can go a bit clumpy, but this is purely down to the preparation. Really good quality product.

Matcha!

The sachets are so handy & make matcha an anywhere drink! ... but as is the case so often with matcha, the powder's so fine it's a challenge to get it mixed in right - ideally a whisk is involved.
