About matcha...We like to think of it as a sort of superhero amongst teas, as it’s a super-concentrated green tea powder that’s packed with antioxidants and nutrients. teapigs matcha comes from the renowned Nishio region in Japan, where the tea leaves are grown under cover to produce lots of amino acids and chlorophyll (the bright green good stuff). The leaves are then dried and very slowly ground by granite to a very fine powder, which is then packed and sealed immediately, so as to lock in all the nutrients. It’s been a ceremonial beverage drunk by Buddhist monks and royalty for over 900 years. But you needn’t feel foolish about the fact you’ve never heard of it before as, until now, virtually all matcha has been consumed within Japan.

“If you love Matcha, you'll love these. If you've never tried Matcha this is a good way to start as it is ready mixed. I'd have the grapefruit for a morning wake up or the elderflower if you prefer your Matcha after lunch, personally I wasn't that wowed by the apple. Really handy for days out or weekends away. “I was really wowed by the Elderflower. It really is a great natural boost to those days where I'm flagging a little, and has helped improve my workouts incredibly. I just grab one of these before my classes and I'm away. I find you don't get that strong buzz feeling either (that sugary energy drinks and strong coffee give) - you just feel so naturally energetic. “I'm a big fan of Teapigs matcha as a way to enjoy green tea. Although I believed in the benefits of drinking green tea, I struggled to regularly incorporate it into my day as I just didn't like the taste enough. Now I've discovered these drinks (and delicious Popcorn tea), I'm a convert. I love both the apple and elderflower versions, but didn't enjoy the grapefruit version - you'll know your own tastebuds well enough to work out which you're likely to enjoy most. Enjoy!” |

“I love elderflower and though I've never actually tried the other match green tea available here, when I saw this drink in the supermarket I had to buy a couple. It's delicious, the cartons are a great size for chucking into a bag. Love the fact that it's resealable too, the cap makes enjoying on the go a breeze. Unlike other tea drinks I've tried, this one isn't overly sweet. If you like that sort of thing, you might be disappointed but I think most people will appreciate the flavour of the drink rather than the empty sweetness. I don't know if I'd try the other flavours as I'm not keen on grapefruit or apple, but I will certainly be ordering a bunch of these in the future.” |

“Absolutely love the Eldeflower version of these Matcha drinks. The Apple was too sweet for me but the Elderflower is the perfect balance. I have it during or after my training session and it is perfect to help sustain my energy or as a pick me up. If I have had my Matcha tea shot then I give it a miss.
