It’s time to welcome some new(ish) teapigs to our team! Yvonne (Finance Manager) and Jon (E-Commerce Assistant) joined us towards the end of last year, and we wanted to chat to them about how they are finding life at our Brentford office so far...
what were you up to before you joined teapigs, and what made you apply for the role?
yvonne: I worked in two different accountancy practices for around six years and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Just before joining teapigs I also did a one-month intensive Yoga Teacher Training course - and now I lead our weekly lunchtime yoga sessions! I wanted to get involved with a brand whose products I really love and believe in, and it was important to me that there was a strong focus on ethical and sustainability values. As soon as I saw the teapigs role, I jumped at the opportunity.
jon: Directly before joining teapigs, I was working as a studio manager for at an architectural firm whilst studying graphic design. I had been working in events and promotion for over a decade - everything from music festivals to high profile award shows. I’d known for a few years that I wanted mix things up and start working behind a product rather than a service - this is why I took the leap and studied graphic design. I’m a huge believer in loving what you do – and how could I not be head over heels for teapigs?!
how are you finding life at teapigs so far?
yvonne: Everyone is really friendly and has made me feel right at home. Particular highlights so far have been tea school and getting to make my own blend!
jon: It has been intense – but in the best possible way! There has been so much to take in, which can be daunting – but the whole team are so lovely and have gone above and beyond to help me settle in. It really helps that everyone is so passionate about what they do - it is truly infectious!
what are you most looking forward to about working at teapigs?
yvonne: I’m looking forward to getting involved with everything teapigs, number crunching and spreadsheets, and seeing the growth as more and more people discover their love for real tea!
jon: I’m absolutely fascinated by every aspect of teapigs – from how the brand was created, to where it is heading - it is really exciting to become a part of its future.
what’s your favourite teapigs blend?
jon: I honestly can’t give a definitive favourite, so I will run through my daily favourites. I have a pure matcha (neat) in the morning, mao feng green tea throughout the day, calm – when I need just that and a liquorice and peppermint if I’m craving something sweet!
tell us a random fact about yourself…
yvonne: I teach piano, love all types of dance, and have recently joined an amateur musical theatre group!
jon: I once dog-sat the late Carrie Fisher’s French bulldog Gary... in a palace of all places! It was only for a few hours, but it was magical. (Yes, I am obsessed with dogs!)
