This month it’s B Corp Month! But hold up, what’s a B Corp? If you need a little reminder, B Corp is about purpose, and the overall positive impact of a company – rather than focusing on a product, they analyse a company’s impact on its workers, customers, community, and environment. To become B Corp certified, companies are assessed and audited, and have to meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. We were certified in 2019, and we’ve not looked back since!
B Corp Month is the perfect time for us to celebrate all things, yep, you guessed it, B Corp! It’s a global, annual, month-long campaign to raise awareness and understanding of the B Corp logo and what it means.
The theme for 2021 is Better Business. Being a ‘better business’ means you prioritise constant improvement to ensure you continuously exceed the expectations, demands and needs of society and the planet.
So, what are our plans for B Corp Month?
This month, we're thrilled to be teaming up with 5 fab fellow B Corp brands – Rubies in the Rubble, Vivobarefoot, Yala, DAME and Toast Ale. Each week throughout March we’ll be hosting an Instagram Live with someone from each brand, so you (and we!) can learn more about them and their B Corp journey so far. Here’s the plan, and a bit of information about each of those involved…
Tuesday 2nd March: Tea & Chat with Jenny, Founder, Rubies in the Rubble (11am)
Rubies in the Rubble make award-winning condiments from delicious ingredients that would usually be rejected by others in the supply chain - often simply for being the 'wrong' shape, size or colour. Working with UK farmers, they give this produce a second life, creating a packed-with-flavour Ketchups, Mayos and Relishes that have won multiple Great Taste Awards. Heroes of the fruit and veg world, if you ask us! They have also kindly given us a discount code to share with you - the code 'TEAPIGS' will give you 20% off your first online order with them, valid until the end of this month!

Monday 8th March: Tea & Chat with Emma, Director of Sustainability, Vivobarefoot (10am)
Vivobarefoot was founded in 2012, and they are on a mission to create regenerative, sustainable footwear that, in their words, will 'bring you closer to nature'. They say that cramming your foot in a modern shoe negates the foots natural strength and function - Vivobarefoot footwear is designed to promote the foot's natural strength and movement, allowing you to feel the ground beneath your feel.

Tues 16th March: Tea & Chat with Alec, Co-founder, DAME (11am)
DAME is a multi-award winning sustainable period product company. They make products that cause as little harm to our environment as possible when made, used and finished with. They work hard to ensure people with periods everywhere have access to better products, education and resources.

Tues 23rd March: Tea & Chat with Audrey, Founder, Yala (12:30pm)
Yala is an award-winning African jewellery brand designed for the modern woman. Yala won "Jewellery Brand of the Year" in the 2019 Sustainable Lifestyle Awards and was the very first jewellery company in the UK to become a Certified B Corp. Yala's beautiful jewellery is inspired by modern Africa, combining traditional craft with 21st century values. All of their raw materials are sourced ethically, with a focus on recycled elements.

Tues 30th March: Tea and chat with Rob, Founder, Toast Ale (11am)
Toast Ale is a craft beer brewery who saw a problem with the UK's food system and wanted to make a change. Unfortunately, the food industry sees high volumes of wastage - the perfect example being bread, which sees up to 44% of the supply never even being eaten! In 2015, Toast was established to try and combat these issues, with the idea of saving that surplus fresh bread (which would otherwise be destroyed!) and using it in place of "virgin" barley to create beer. This helps to cut down on food waste, and creates some pretty delicious brews for us all to enjoy too! They've also kindly given us a 15% off discount code for March which we can share with you to use on their website - 'BCORPMONTH'.

Make sure you're following us over on Instagram so you can tune in live, @teapigs. We'll also be saving, adding captions and uploading each Live as an IGTV, so if you do miss it you can always catch up.
