Blog reviews

We’ve received two reviews recently from some tea loving bloggers, first up Lebinh from The Food Connoisseur’s Blog has been trying our limited edition Darjeeling First Flush. This tea is very special –the tea leaves appear after the long hard winter and have a lovely delicate flavour. If you’re already a fan of our Darjeeling Earl Grey this might be on to add to your ‘to drink’ list.

Here’s what Lebinh thought:

“I’m an avid tea drinker, both in the British and Chinese culture; tea drinking is consumed at social events. I’m quite well known as the tea dealer girl to people, with a wide range of tea in my personal stash.  teapigs is a brand I have been drinking recently since my trip to keu, I love the Moroccan mint tea.

teapigs has launched “top of the crops” limited edition range, starting with Darjeeling first flush.  The Indian tea bushes hibernate during winter months and reopen for spring months in march. Did you know Darjeeling is also known as champagne of teas?

Darjeeling is drunk on it’s on, with no sugar and milk, once fully brewed it bodies a light, coloured infusion with floral musky aromas. teapigs first flush Darjeeling takes 3 mins to brew, the tea is very light, yet has a very subtle taste, very light in colour and aroma.”

We’ve also had some nice feedback from Emily over at Emily Jane Reviews Things who has been trying a few different brews:

teapigs were kind enough to send me some of their teas to try. Here is what I thought:

Everyday brew: Wow. Regular tea has never been so good! I don’t usually brew a good cuppa, but I don’t think I could fail to with this! Really light, slightly sweet tea. I think I’m going to have to bulk-buy, this tea was so good.

Mao feng green tea: I like green tea, although there’s not much to say about it. This one, however, deserves the review! Really light, sweet, and not at all bitter! Lovely green tea, actually one of the best I have tried.

Peppermint tea: I like peppermint tea. I
loved this one. So minty; if you’ve ever chewed on a mint leaf, you know what it tastes like. Honestly, the best peppermint tea I’ve tried.

Darjeeling Earl Grey: I don’t usually like this kind of tea, but this time I drank a whole mug! Really strong, flowery, lemony taste. If you like darjeeling or earl grey tea, I think you should give this one a go.

Chocolate flake tea: Chocolate and tea! Mixed!! Why no one’s done this before I don’t know. It tasted really comforting, like hot chocolate but not as sweet. Brew it for the full 3 mins at least to get the most of this flavour.

Popcorn tea: It really is like popcorn tasting tea. I don’t know if I love it or hate it. It’s so different to anything I’ve tried. I recommend buying this just to let me know you opinions! I think overall I enjoyed it, but it does take a little getting used to!

Rooibos Creme Caramel: OH LORDY SO GOOD! Rooibos (red bush) tea with caramel pieces! This was my favourite. Honestly, it’s the best treat. Brew for 3-5 mins and add
milk, and enjoy a sweet, luxurious brew!!”

Thanks guys! If you have a blog too and would like to review our Darjeeling First Flush or perhaps some of our other teas, then drop info@teapigs.co.uk an email and we’ll see what we can do!
