Did you know, its afternoon tea week? This practise of afternoon tea was thought up by the 7th Duchess of Bedford in the nineteenth century, who kept becoming a bit peckish between breakfast and dinner and had the genius idea of having a bite to eat and a pot of tea in the afternoon.

Us teapigs need no encouragement when it comes to tea and cake and we’ve been having a think about what we reckon makes the perfect afternoon tea:

Rachel: Great British Bake off style petit fours are a must! Like these, yum. And as I’m learning to crochet, a full crotched crockery set is essential…

Becky: An afternoon tea just isn’t complete without…pug cupcakes! And I love this cake stand.

Nick: Ex teapig Katie once had an underwater tea party at The Park Club in Acton with Louis Theroux and Adrian Chiles amongst others. That was an afternoon tea with a difference. If you don’t believe me here’s the link!

Amy: Amazing Venues do great afternoon teas (with teapigs tea!) I’d love to have one at Solent Forts

Valerie: I’m French and for us the perfect afternoon tea will be at 5 o’clock in a trendy patisserie, sitting outside on the terrace, watching the world goes by, with petit fours sucrés et macarons (Ladurée s’il vous plaît!) and of course, a cup of teapigs earl grey!

Laura: Clotted cream and scones!! Need I say more?

Nicole: Tea and cake followed by some live music with The Spitfires is my idea of the perfect afternoon tea!

To celebrate the week, we’ve teamed up with Afternoontea.co.uk, the place to go if you are looking for the perfect destination for afternoon tea in the UK. Head on over, they have a great giveaway on at the moment and you can win some lovely stuff including our loose teas.

And don’t forget to let us know in the comments below – what’s your idea of the perfect afternoon tea?
