We know that lots of you are already pretty adventurous with your matcha recipes, but for those of you not quite sure what to do with our super power organic matcha, here are five great matcha recipes:

1. matcha iced tea

Ingredients 

  • 1/2 a teaspoon of teapigs organic matcha
  •  2 teaspoons of ginger
  •  ½ a cup of ice,
  • juice of ½ a lime
  • honey to taste

Blend ice, matcha and ginger in a blender, until the ice is crushed. Pour into a chilled glass. Add lime juice and honey to taste. 

2. matcha latte

Ingredients

  • 1/2 a teaspoon of teapigs organic matcha
  • 1 cup of semi skimmed or full fat milk
  • honey to taste

Add the matcha to an inch of hot water and whisk until smooth. Heat a cup of milk in a microwave for one minute or until hot. Whisk the milk until it forms a latte consistency. Pour hot milk over matcha concentrate and add honey to taste. 

3. mint and matcha cocktail

Ingredients

  • 40ml Gin                     
  • 20ml pressed apple juice
  • 20ml fresh lemon juice
  • 12.5ml Sugar syrup
  • ½  tea spoon teapigs organic matcha
  • 8 mint leaves
  • soda water

Add Gin, lemon, apple juice, sugar syrup, matcha and mint leaves to a cocktail shaker. Shake hard with cubed ice for 4 seconds and strain into an ice filled glass. Top with a little soda. Add apple slices, mint Sprig and a sprinkle of matcha for garnish. 

4. matcha sorbet

Ingredients

  • 500g caster sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons of teapigs organic matcha
  • 750 ml of water

Put the sugar and matcha in a pan with 750ml water. Stir and heat gently until the sugar dissolves and matcha is nice and smooth, then simmer for a couple of minutes.

Churn the liquid in an ice cream machine to sorbet consistency. Serve a couple of scoops per person sprinkle with a little matcha.

Alternatively, pour the liquid into a freezer safe container and freeze until set. Break it up and blend in a food processor until smooth. Freeze and blend again for a smooth consistency. 

5. matcha salad dressing

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon of teapigs organic matcha
  • 1 pinch of sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon groundnut oil
  • 2 teaspoons agave (or honey)
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • ½ an orange

Add 1 teaspoon or matcha to a small bowl or cup and mix with 1 tablespoon of hot water to make a matcha paste. Mix in 1 teaspoon of groundnut oil and 2 teaspoons of agave. Squeeze a teaspoon of orange juice into the matcha dressing. Add pinch of sea salt to the matcha dressing and stir well.
