Louise the tea taster says

For two hours every morning, for two weeks of the year, in the Chinese Fujian province where white tea is grown, the pluckers are in the fields at first light to catch the early morning shoots. These are traditionally withered naturally in the sun and sent to people who appreciate this kind of thing (i.e. teapigs). Possibly the most exclusive tea we stock.

How does it taste?

Refreshing, light and aromatic. Peaches and apricots. Very pure. We have chosen to bring you genuine white rather than green tea masquerading as white tea. If your white tea looks green in the cup, then it is green tea - watch out for fakes.

Good if you're feeling

impure of thought, word or deed. Forget the rosary and the Hail Marys – redeem yourself with a cup of this gorgeous white tea, crammed full of antioxidants.

Brew Time

    Brew for 3+ minutes
  • water_just_off_the_boil_80_degrees
Water just off the boil - 80 degrees
  • Tea temple - 1 per person. Brew for 3 mins, best with water at 80 degrees C. (If you don't have a fancy kettle or thermometer to hand, grabbing the kettle just before it boils will do the job!)
  • Loose tea - 2 rounded teaspoonfuls per person, infuse for 3+ minutes.

Whole leaves take longer to brew, but the little wait is definitely worth it.

How we like it

Simply pure; adding anything would be like scribbling comedy glasses on the Mona Lisa.

Changed my life

I'm sure seeing the title you will think it's over the top! But having suffered with hives for nearly 5 years and trying lots of drugs and creams, I read green tea helps! I tried twinnings and it was horrible, I then came across teapigs green tea and loved it and have tried a few now white tea being my fave! Anyway I have been drinking these fab teas for a week and since then no hives!!! Teapigs have given me my life back thank you!!

THE best tea i've had.

Some of the reviews i've read here are embarrassing to say the least. This tea is amazing. The purest and most refreshing i've had-and i've had a fair few! Comparing other white teas and green teas to this is akin to comparing tap water with filtered water. I highly recommend.

Give the Mona Lisa a monocle!

I know the recommendation is to have it pure, and to have it otherwise would be akin to drawing glasses on the Mona Lisa, but I find that completely pure, it doesn't taste of anything! It's just like drinking hot water! But with a single spoon of sugar, it makes the taste much more pleasant. Oddly, it even tastes as though it has milk when it doesn't!
It also makes a lovely honey colour in the pot!
