Description

Chilli Chai Assam Tea Sourced from:
Assam Tea

Louise the tea taster says

This chilli chai is a twist on our traditional chai, a recipe that has been the Indian drink of choice for centuries. Alongside the assam tea, cardamom pods, chunks of ginger, cinnamon and vanilla, we have added flakes of chilli for an extra fiery kick. This chai is for those of you who don't order korma and plain naan from your local curry house.

How does it taste?

A gutsy assam tea with exotic spices and an extra fiery kick at the end.

Good if you're feeling

in need of a little fire and spice in your life.

Tea temple - 1 per person. Infuse in boiling water. Brew for 3+ minutes.

Whole leaves take longer to brew, but the little wait is definitely worth it.

Hot - extra long infusion, lots of milk and a little sugar or honey.

Beautiful!

A beautiful chai tea, I put off buying this thinking the spice of the chilli would ruin the flavour but all it does is add more! Absolutely love it, particularly for winter nights :)

a bit disappointing

Not as nice as the ordinary chai - there was a rather bitter undertaste, and I couldn't taste the chili. I'd drink it if were given it to me, but I won't be buying any.

Masala Tea

This is exactly what they serve in India and Nepal as Chiya or Chai, (masala tea). Tastes of cloves more than chili, and is a very odd taste, but quite palatable. With milk and sugar is how it should be drunk properly! Think sweet curry smell...

Yum!

It took me a while to work up the courage to try the chili chai tea in my teapiglets order (I was a coward!), but I found it suprisingly delightful. Although others have suggested mixing it with milk and sugar/honey, I find that drinking it raw is the way I like it best. However, as someone else said, it's a personal affair. Its a delicously surprisingly warm drink with a bit of a kick to it at the end - but not enough of one that it puts you off. Best sipped during one of those cold nights where you feel like wrapping up in a duvet and reading a book, far as I'm concerned! I've just ordered one of the 15 teabag teapig versions, but am already considering getting another!

Another lovely tea, teapigs!

Awesome

Enough said. Seriously though its you fav chai tea with a lovely refreshing tang at the end. Im very sensitive to spicy things if thats what you are worried about, but its not spicy at all. The chilli just adds an additional, very nice taste :)
