It's back. Gloom Aid returns to cheer us all up on what is officially the gloomiest day of the year (apparently). Run by cheerful chappies Leonard and Cliff (pictured) the event at the O2 Academy, Islington features various artists who will bring smiles to our faces and help to raise money for The Depression Alliance. We'll be there doing our own little thing to raise energy levels by serving matcha shots. So if you can, come along for what should be the perfect antidote to the post Christmas blues. See you there hopefully :-) (posted by Nick)

not since the ice age?
how does the thought of holidaying in an unspoilt piece of countryside sound to you? When we saw this picture, we thought it looked pretty much like our idea of relaxing bliss.

We've come across a great company - Feather Down Farm Days - who organise, well, holidays on farms accross the country. They are always working farms where the farmer and his wife are passionate guardians of the countryside. And the farms have different specialities - be it organic produce, cattle, dairy, horses.
You can sleep in the Feather Down tents... these are no ordinary tents - they are lovely, cosy abodes with old fashioned stoves and a proper loo!
We'll be working with Feather Down Farm Days to bring you a chance to win one of these holidays soon so watch this space!
There's something of a tradition of promising dieting and detox after Christmas. Both Louise and I have set ourselves the target of losing 14lbs over the next 8 weeks with our UPS scales acting as the official adjudicator. Failure to do so will result in running this years Bupa London 10,000 race on May 31st (although if we succeed we'll probably want to enter anyway!)

Over the festive Christmas break I decided to put my little pot of amazing matcha to good use in one of my favourite recipes - banana bread!
It's a really quick and easy recipe and the best news is that it's sort of healthy - in the world of cakes that is! For a nutrient boost try using wholemeal flour instead of white flour.

The finished product is a great tea time treat - along with a mug of your favourite teapigs tea of course!

For the full details of this recipe and others, just visit our matcha recipe page which has loads of great culinary ideas involving the one and only mactha! Enjoy! by Hannah :)
