bees in clover

Sorry to be doom merchant but did you know that a world without bees would be a world without humans? Why? They are the planet's ultimate pollinators- causing flowers to produce seeds, nuts, fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately for a number of reasons the world bee population is in decline. I was fortunate to listen to a fascinating talk by Gerald Cooper, a beekeper, at last year's howies Do Lectures and recomend you do the same by clicking here. Some great advice he gave to help bees is to let your lawn grow wild. Instead of mowing, leave a portion (or all) to grow into meadow and stop using pesticides and fungicides. I've done that (it's also a great excuse to be lazy and not mow the lawn at this time of year) and here's the result. A happy bee in clover. And for those of you with a sweet tooth, honey is a great sweetner for tea. Especially summer flowers. (posted by Nick)

teapigs do window dressing

Lou and I had a great day-of-fun (!) on Friday that started with a trip to the Whole Foods Market on Kensington High Street to play around with the first ever teapigs window display... hooray! can you tell we're excited?

So if you find yourselves in the general vicinity go and take a look in the window. You'll even get to see a picture of Lou picking tea in China - no small thing since she hates having her picture taken or being in the public eye generally (which I guess is why her sun hat hides her face in the China pic). Hopefully she won't hate me for posting this photo... our very own tea taster (face and all) in the teapigs window at Whole Foods Market.

diamonds and pearls

Thanks to all of you who visited us at last weekend's Hatton Garden Festival. We had a few little gems to sell ourselves, the jasmine pearls proved popular. Diamond geezers. (posted by Nick)

national bike week

Time to dust off the old bike in the shed and get pedalling. National Bike Week starts Saturday 13th June. Click this link to find out all about it. As they say on the site get on your bike and "get more out of life". Not quite sure whether they are endorsing the World Naked Bike Ride but I can see what they may mean. (posted by Nick)

wanna win some teapigs?

Don't know if you've heard of teatunes before... it's a lovely wesbite set up by Ben and Dan to provide discussions and news on two of life's greatest things - music and tea.

This month they've put together a competition where you could win some teapigs teas (which we think is the bestest part) but also the album from The Divine Comedy's spin-off project - The Duckworth Lewis Method - 2 weeks ahead of it's release... Now, we're not quite as cool as Ben and Dan so hadn't heard of them before but we think they sound rather good - I think they sound a bit like the Beatles and Nicole (who is much more clued up on this kind of thing) reckons they sound a bit like the Left Banke. hold a Blooming Great Tea Party

You've hopefully noticed that 50p from every pack of teapigs summer flowers goes to Marie Curie this year (until 31st july 09) to support their marvellous Blooming Great Tea Party Campaign.

It's a great campaign to get involved in because it's so flexible and easy to take part... you could hold a simple tea party party in the office or at home and ask for donations. Or you could put on a full blown tea party a la Ritz and charge people lots of money for the charity - whatever tickles your fancy.

Whatever you do you must keep the 28th June free so you can come to the teapigs Blooming Great Tea Party at the Wholefoods Market store in Kensington. We're finalising the plans as we speak and we'll let you know all the details asap. BGTP_WITH MCCC_rgb.jpg

For more info call 08700 030 040 or or go to visit the Marie Curie wesbite here.
