brentford rules

We have been finding out some interesting things about Brentford, the new teapigs home. Apparently it was (and still is to us) the capital of London as Brentford was the County Town in Middlesex and Middlesex became London. See, easy!

Also Julius Caesar crossed the Thames in Brentford during the Roman invasion.

earth hour

WWF's Earth Hour was a massive global phemonmenon. Millions of people around the world switched off their lights to send a message to global leaders that they must take urgent action on climate change. My local observation was that lots of people didn't. Maybe next year? And it's still not too late to sign up to show your support. (posted by Nick)

Birthdays are all about sharing ( well they are at teapigs).
Nicole is celebrating her birthday today and we are sharing some cakes with her - don't they look yummy.

I would love to say these were made by us....not this time, but we found a great recipe.

I'm genuinely blessed to work with three lovely ladies. But... there are times when the idea of working from home has some appeal. Check out this eco friendly workspace. Is this New Man's shed in the garden? What should I do? (posted by Nick)

We were at the International Food Exhibition in Exel last week where we had a good chin-wag with our teapigs stockists and found ourselves some new ones.

Anyway, one of our favorite finds at the show were these colourful bags of fruit from Urban Fresh Fruits. Have you come accross them before? They're mad about fruit (fruitpigs?) and have produced a great range of dried (but very juicy) fruits in little bags. No sugar, no preservatives - that's what we like to hear.

We think it's a great way to get your 5-a-day and if you're anything like us (well, me and louise especially, nick and nicole have more self control!) and want to cut down on biscuits and naughty food in the office, these are ideal. I feel an Urban Fresh order coming on.... visit them here.

light fantastic

It's Spring equinox today. The day of celestial balance. When we have 12 hours of darkness and 12 hours of light. Well I know which I prefer and it always makes me feel good at this time of year as the balance now swings in favour of light (sorry if you live south of the equator). What, apart of course from some lovely tea , do you like most about this time of year? (posted by Nick)

green celebration

Would it be too much to ask to celebrate St Patrick's Day with a nice cup of green tea? Oh well, worth a try.

Mine's a pint of green please.

tea tastes better from your favourite mug

A study at Sheffield University found 65 per cent of Britons have a particular cup they like to drink from. Whether it is fine bone china ( like nicole) or chipped and stained ( like nick) your mug of choice genuinely does make your brew taste better.

We have loaded up pictures of our favourite mugs - send us yours or load them onto the teapigs flickr site.

The best photo sent in or loaded onto flickr wins this mug ( a new one of course!)

lushly products

look what i received today from the lovely people at lush! these creams have ignited a lot of interest in the teapigs office cause we love the way they have pictures of the person that made the product on the tub. Apparently loads of people think that it's just a marketing tool but it's actually true (according to an inside source ;)) and the people on the stickers are the clever ones who put all the scrummy ingredients together.

The other thing we love is that if you bring 5 of their black pots back to a Lush shop once you've finished the product, ou get a Fresh Face mask free - a very good green idea we think. What do you reckon?

Say hello to Sharky the tea infuser. Designed by Pablo Matteoda. I wonder who he was thinking of having tea with when he designed this.

tongue twister

Ever since this news story broke about a £10m insurance policy taken out on a coffee taster's tongue, Louise has been sticking her's out at all and sundry claiming it to be worth far more. She says that the fact that we in the UK get through some 165 million cups of tea a day compared to just a paltry 70 miliion coffees means her tongue alone has a value above that that of a top Premiership footballer. A tea taster's tongue or a hyped up egotistical footy player. Which would you value more and why? (posted by Nick)

Louise's tongue is too valuable to photograph so here's an illustration instead
