I wonder if you would have been better putting the matcha in the batter mix. I've done this with muffins and it worked quite well - if you were after a scary green muffin - which I was.
If I have a go, I'll send you a picture.
I did try mixing it with the batter, but the result was so bad, I didn't even bother taking a photo.
It was very green though
