matcha pancakes - greener than your average pancakes.

tea is green

Take a look at this link I came across the other day which reminded me just how absolutely marvellous tea is - full of antioxidants, as hydrating as water, yummy...and apparently very versatile and environmentally friendly.

Why use ink when you can use tea? Click here.

unusual pancake day....

Next tuesday is pancake day ( another excuse for us to talk about food).

For an alternative celebration there is the great spitalfields pancake race. The race will be run along Dray Walk at The Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane and all you have to do is toss the pancake a couple of times en route. Kick off is at 12.30- fancy dress is a must.

For more details the event is being organised by ALTERNATIVE ARTS in aid of the London Air Ambulance.

For unusual pancakes, make them green tea pancakes.

For the pancake mixture:
110g/4oz plain flour, sifted
pinch of salt
2 eggs
200ml/7fl oz milk mixed with 75ml/3fl oz water
50g/2oz butter
1sp matcha powder.

Add the matcha powder with the plain flour.
Not only making your pancakes healthy they also appear disturbingly green!
We will be giving these a try next week... results to follow!

No need to ask the famous question when Nick's Mum and Dad popped in to see our new offices the other day. Who could be better qualified?

breakfast competition winners

We had an amazing response to our recent breakfast competition and 10 lucky winners were drawn at random. Hopefully they'll now be enjoying their breakfast of rude health cereals with our english breakfast tea. We asked you who you'd most like to have breakfast with and why. So thanks for all your lovely entries but here are the lucky 10:

...with my boyfriend Shaun, but this won't be happening for a while as he is in Afghanistan..cos I miss him and can't wait to have a nice cup of teapigs with him at breakfast time. (Deborah)

...would have to be with Stephen Fry, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Angelina Jolie. The wit from the first two would be side splitting, and Angelina is THE most attractive woman alive!!! (Sophie)

...with Johnny Depp because I'd like to see if he looks that tasty in the morning. (Claire)

...with my husband, he always sleeps in til lunch. (Vicky)

...Jamie Oliver, he can make my porridge any time any where! (Sima)

...the Queen to see if she shakes it up with a shot of matcha in the morning. (Gareth)

...with Harry Hill becausehe would help me start the day with a smile on my face. (Helen)

...on my own. I would love the peace and quiet and not having to run around doing packed lunches and getting school things ready. BLISS! (Janet)

...with Alice Cooper because who better than a tasty bit of rock crumpet? And if he's covered in melted butter - then all the better (Carmen) (wow)

...Oscar Wilde, because he said "only boring people are brilliant at breakfast". We could sit and munch in comfortable silence. (Nell)

yippee - snow!

We at teapigs had so much snow on Monday that we couldn't get into work, so we played in the park instead. Maybe not the most impressive snowman in the park but hey, small is beautiful!
