Why not pick a tea to suit your mood using our 'mood-o-matic teafinder'
"I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals."
Winston Churchill
The teapigs' Ethical Scheme was set up to enable us to make a difference to the tea growing regions / communities we buy from. At the same time it also offers a personal insight into life on tea estates.
Our first project: Gisenyi Orphanage, Rwanda
Many people are surprised to hear that Rwanda produces some of the finest black teas known to tea tasters. Once you know that, it’s no surprise at all to then hear that teas from the Pfunda tea estate, based in the lush green hills of Rwanda make up 40% of our Morning Glory Blend.
Sadly, Rwanda is more likely to be remembered for a history that saw an estimated 800,000 people lose their lives and left many thousands of children orphaned.
The Pfunda Tea Estate sits near Gisenyi in the north west of Rwanda.

A large orphanage, home to 700 children, over the road from the tea estate. The tea estate generously provides annual support to the orphanage to assist with the huge food bill. teapigs will be joining in the support of the orphanage over the forth coming year.
The children in the orphanage munch through 60,000 pieces of fruit per year, the next 60,000 pieces of fruit will be funded by teapigs.
As our business grows we plan to contribute further to the support of the Gisenyi orphanage.
If you would like to know more about the orphanage or make a contribution please email louise@teapigs.co.uk
